NP-TRC General Information

Several problems in terms healthcare organization is detected following natural and manmade disasters. A standard course to provide a suitable approach to the traumatized victim was aimed, and thus Trauma & Resuscitation Course (TRC) had evolved. This kind of a course is performed in various countries with different names. TRC is available for doctors since 1998 in all geographical regions and 20 cities of Turkiye.

The first Trauma & resuscitation instructor education for nurses and paramedics (NP-TRC) was organized in Izmir between February 28 and March 02, 2007 by the Turkish Association of Trauma & Emergency Surgery in collaboration with the Department of Health of Turkiye and is now available in 20 cities of the country. The course book is sent to the participants two months prior to the course. During the NP-TRC education lasting four days, 16 topics and four practical sessions are covered. Trauma scenarios are evaluated by the course participants in the beginning and at the end of the course which provides the information about the efficacy of the education. The participants should reach the 80 % success at the test. The certificate issued at the end is valid for five years.

The Department of Health of Turkiye released a law on December 07, 2006 and declared that from that date paramedics and EMT’s will be staffed in ambulances with or without the presence of medical doctors. For this reason, standard education of these paramedics and EMT’S gained a vital importance, and NP-TRC satisfied this need throughout the country.
