Endoscopy Unit |
 |
An endoscopy unit consisting of four rooms is serving almost 1,000
patients since 1998. Gastroscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP procedures are
achieved in the unit. Two patients may be treated simultaneously and one
patient may rest in the recovery room. Several techniques to treat
gastrointestinal bleedings such as; sclerotherapy, band ligation,
hemoclips and cauterization are easily applied in the unit. Temporary or
permanent stents may be applied for intestinal obstructions. ERCP,
endoscopic sphincterotomy and stent applications are pertained for acute
biliary pancreatitis, supurative cholangitis or biliary occlusion.

Three members of the faculty deliver a 365 day and 24 hour endoscopy
service. This unit is located across the OR, and endoscopy evaluation
may easily be performed during surgery in the OR. Diagnosis and therapy
can be performed in the ICU for GI bleedings or percutaneous endocopic
gastrostomy for feeding.
