Emergency Surgery Units

Trauma & Emergency Surgery Service of Istanbul Medical School, serves with a total of 63 beds; 47 of which are emergency surgery service (41 ward and 6 observation beds), and 8 surgical intensive care unit (ICU) beds, and 8 beds in the burns unit. In addition to these; biochemistry lab, microbiology lab, radiology unit, endoscopy unit and a 4 room operation theatre exist. Patients are served in a 24 hour and 365 days basis with the team of General Surgery, Anesthesiology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery. Emergency service of the Internal Medicine department is next to the emergency surgery service and both services are connected to each other. Thus, surgical and medical problems of adult patients are solved easily.

All age groups including pediatric patients are served in terms of trauma and burns, and the service operates as an adult trauma unit with pediatric admission. Pediatric acute abdominal cases are admitted by Departments of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery.
