History

All efforts were fulfilled to publish the Turkish Journal of Trauma and Emergency Surgery in 1994. The first issue of the journal was published in March 1995. The journal was published every six months in 1995 and 1996, but due to great interest the journal is published every three months and 4 times a year (January, April, July, October) following 1997. In the beginning the journal was the official publication organ of the Istanbul Medical School, Trauma & Emergency Surgery Unit Association, and after 1997 it became the official publication of the Turkish Association of Trauma and Emergency Surgery (TATES). In the beginning 2,000 copies of the journal were published, and following 1997 this number reached 3,000 copies. The ISSN of the Turkish Journal of Trauma and Emergency Surgery is: 1306-696X, and for the electronic journal: ISSN 1307 -7945. It is cited in the Turkish Tubitak citation index.

As from 2001, the journal is indexed in Index Medicus and Medline, as from 2005 in Excerpta Medica and EMBASE, and as from 2007 in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E). During the five-year term of 2001-2006, our impact factor in SCI-E indexed journals is 0.21.
